Lucknow: Several students from the city scored 99% in class 10 results declared on Wednesday. They said that reduced screen time, book reading, classroom study and regular writing practice helped them score well.
“I was expecting 95%, but scoring 99% is something I had never dreamt of. I scored 100 marks in science and social science, while in the remaining subjects I got 99%. I had fixed screen time of around an hour a day, that too for study purposes, while for the remaining 9-10 hours I focused on classroom teaching and self-study,” said Akshara Pandey, a 99% scorer from Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial School, who aspires to become an IAS officer.
She said her parents not only share similar names but also similar thoughts — that consistency, reading and learning by doing can help one attain success. “I just followed the advice of my father, Sanjay Pandey, who is a sales manager, and my mother, Sanjay Tiwari, who is a teacher. I will celebrate this success by visiting a temple with my entire family on Thursday,” she said.
Another class 10 student, Anvi Dwivedi from Lucknow Public School (CP Singh Foundation), also scored 99%.
“If one is not regular with studies, one will find it difficult to prepare everything a few months before the examination. Consistency, timely revision, and practising sample papers are the keys to scoring well in board exams,” said Anvi from LPS South City branch.
She said, “I hardly had screen time of more than 40 minutes or so. During exams, students should avoid social media. The internet should be used only for useful information and in a limited way.” Her father, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, a govt officer, expressed immense pride over his daughter’s performance.
“Online engagement is a distraction. I hardly had screen time of an hour a day, and even during that time I used it very judiciously, such as for watching videos of concepts I was confused about. Otherwise, it was regular school and a fixed timetable that helped me score well,” said Ayush Srivastava from LPS’s Unnao branch, who also scored 99%.
He said, “I dedicate this success to my father, Rupesh Kumar Srivastava, who is a govt officer, and my mother, Seema Srivastava, who is a principal.”
Student from Delhi Public School, Shaheed Path, Arav Tiwari and Prakhar Awasthi from LPS Unnao were also amongst several students who scored 99%.
